Meet Kat Pelsmakers

Kat is Belgian, has lived in various countries and today is based from the UK. She first discovered yoga in 2013 to help find balance in a stressful, international corporate career and manage a recurring injury. Her first introduction to yoga was through Ashtanga based flow.

After a few years of consistent physical practice discovering various styles of yoga, and with the ever increasing demands of her corporate career, Yin yoga, restorative yoga and meditation ‘found’ Kat, helping her connect the physical and mental aspects of yoga and life.

In 2018 Kat decided to pursue her passion, leave her corporate career behind, and become a yoga teacher, whilst setting up her own consulting business. She completed her 200 hour RYT in March 2019 and 40 hour Yin Yoga  in September 2018, as well as a Vinyasa Flow TT in 2019, and has been teaching since Summer 2018.

During her first teacher training, Kat got introduced to, and fell in love with Anusara® yoga, a beautiful, spiritual and life affirming practice. So, in March 2020 Kat completed an additional 200 hours Anusara teacher training at Red Hot Yoga with Sarah Powell, and in June 2020 certified as a Functional Range Conditioning® Mobility Specialist (FRCms).

Kat loves spending time in the great outdoors, balancing high intensity exercise and strength training with calmness and stillness of mind. She believes that what you experience on the mat, reflects what you may have going on in real life, and yoga can help work through this, irrespective of fitness, flexibility or previous yoga experience.

In 2022, Kat took a 6 month break to go through breast cancer treatment, adding to her perspective of the many ways in which yoga can help support healing physically, emotionally and spiritually, returning to teaching in early 2023.

During 2024 Kat had the opportunity to develop her own skills as Assistant Teacher on a 200 Hour foundational teacher training.

Yoga can truly be a practice for everyone and Kat loves sharing how yoga helped her.

Kat is 900 a hours trained registered and fully insured teacher with over 2,200 teaching hours, and continues her own learning journey through various workshops focussing on mobility, and movement with breath and meditation. She would love to take you through a practice on a mat somewhere soon!
